Devizes Rugby Club are seeking to appoint a new Head Coach for the 2018/2019 season and are welcoming applications to the role

We have a young and predominantly locally produced squad with a number of players coming up through the junior ranks.

Devizes Rugby Club is a community based club in Wiltshire where we currently play in Southern Counties South (Level 7), where we finished 8th in 2017/2018.  Candidates should be motivated and enthusiastic to succeed and develop a young squad of players.  Minimum RFU Level 2 Coach required.

Job Description

  • Title:                             Head Coach
  • Reports to:                    TBC
  • Key Relationships:        Team Manager, Senior Rugby, Chairman of Selectors, Coaching Team
  • Responsible for:             Creating an inclusive environment where players flourish. Alongside team of coaches implementing a playing structure and style that compliments the player base and continues to ensure the club is successful in addition to implementing succession planning for coaches within the club.

Specific Tasks

  • To lead the coaching team responsible for the senior men’s squad
  • Plan the coaching programme for the season.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver individual coaching sessions for the Clubs senior squad.
  • Ensure that all sessions are designed to develop the skills and understanding of the players in your squad.
  • It is expected that the Coach will have the required level of knowledge to enable the players to achieve their potential. Preferably UKCC level 2 or higher.
  • Evaluate all coaching sessions and games with the coaching team and players.
  • Attend all coaching sessions, matches involved with the Clubs senior squad.
  • Mentor and advise assistant coaches and players where appropriate.
  • Provide feedback to coaches, players and appropriate Devizes RFC committees.
  • Provide leadership – Head Coach sets an example and standards for the coaching team and squad. As such the Head Coach will need to be able to inspire the coaching team and players to ensure that all involved maximize their potential. The Head Coach may need to make difficult decisions about selection of players, standards of coaching etc.
  • The Head Coach should have a sound understanding of the RFU performance pathway for players.
  • Delegation – Head Coach needs to be able to delegate agreed responsibilities to the assistant coaches to ensure that they feel valued and their expertise is used effectively.
  • Submit to Manager and/or Committee at season end, detailed document on progress, development and concerns of senior playing squad.
  • Attend and embrace all RFU CPD opportunities within reason to continue and enhance self-improve.

Qualification

  • Applicants to UKCC Level 2 and above
